Slavery's Effect on Society Today

Even after over a 100 years of slavery being abolished in the United States, there is still some inequalities that African Americans must endure. One example is the huge racial wealth gap that can be found all across America. As written by the New York Times "for every $100 in white family wealth, black families hold just $5.04". That is a very clear determination that African Americans are still deeply effected by slavery even though its been abolished. As well as this, the median wealth of a white individual is nearly ten times the rate that an African Americans makes. Overall, I have found this to be very interesting to research and broadened my horizons on how slavery is still effected Americans today.
