Today in class, I took the lead as George Dod Armstrong in our town hall meeting. Our town hall meeting was a call for a discussion about slavery. In the meeting there were advocates for and against slavery, supporting both sides of the argument. George Dod Armstrong was a man born in New Jersey who eventually became the chaplain of the confederate army. During the civil war he wrote the Christian doctrine for slavery which was pro slavery book trying to give advocacy for slavery according to the bible. From writing this book George came to a conclusion that slavery was justified according to Christ and the apostles which meant that slavery was okay to occur in America according to the bible. Finally, it was very interesting to research this man and his life as well as his role in slavery as a whole.
